Walked in climbing boots to Ben Lawers before putting on ski boots for a fine ski descent to Lochan nan Cat. Started the return by climbing high up and over Ben Lawers' east shoulder and then used high wraiths of snow to stay on ski a fair part of the way before a final 2 km descent in climbing boots to the visitor centre.

Not the best ski to walk ratio, but Lochan nan Cat is worth a visit. There were old ski tracks showing. Sorry, photos of Lochan nan Cat have not come out well.

Breezy high up, so that the rucsac and ski sticks made bids for freedom, but pleasantly sunny for much of the time. Freezing level? 2,500ft perhaps

Snow shower at summit a bit windy, but not as bad as forecast (when will I get to see the view!) brilliant sunshine on way up (too hot!)

Glenshee carpark, Carn A Gheoidh, loch Vrotachan, carpark.

horizontal wet snow when arrived, nearly went home! Turned sunny spells & snow flurries, but very windy.

Well loaded on lee slopes with luvly stuff. We of course toured teh other slopes, but a good enough cover of well consolidated neve linked by snowy frozen heather.
Great Sotttish day out out, with a good wilderness feel.

Drumochter. Left path and skinned up west ridge of Beinn Udlamain, skied down east ridge and into Coire Dhomhain to about 2400ft where the snow became very patchy and thin. (see attached map route)

A bit of everything, blizzards, broken cloud northerly winds about 40mph. FL 1500ft.

Some nice patches of fresh powder on the south facing slopes of Beinn Udlamain but a lot of it was blown away leaving hard grippy snow beneath. Either were fine for skiing on but the poor visibilty meant you didn't know what you were skiing on till you were on top it.

Car park to the north of the Ben Lawers visitor centre road. Skis on at the dam and skied along the road to the far end of the dam then SW onto the north ridge of Meall Nan Tarmachan (Creag an Lochain) to the summit. Summit Gully south then SE and East traverse onto the track and back to the road.

Generally cloudy with cloud level mostly just on or above the tops. Windy near the summit with a freezing level just on 900m. Skies cleared nicely as we left the summit at about 1.30.

Snow hard and sometimes icy underfoot with some windblown powder in sheltered areas above 900m. We were able to ski continuously from the dam to the summit almost back to the car although the best snow cover is on easterly aspects. Below 600m the snow was soft and collapsed easily on turns
