Geal Charn from Balsporran Cottage. Skinned from just west of the railway line to the just below the summit. Skied down by roughly the same route, linking patches of snow to 540 metres, then carried our skis to the bottom again.
:: Weather Conditions
Dry and bright with some sunshine. Cold wind on summit.
:: Snow Conditions and Distrubtion
A mixture from wind scoured to soft snow in the heather. Some evidence of windslab on East through South East aspects but could be avoided by staying closer to North Easterly aspects.

Edinburgh Pentlands - East Cairn Hill and West Cairn Hill from Harperrig Reservoir.
Outbound directly up between the two summits and return to the West via Colzium.
Sorry photos uploaded in reverse order.
:: Weather Conditions
Blue sky and no wind whatsoever.
Minus 3 at the start at 277meters.
:: Snow Conditions and Distrubtion
Complete cover. Perhaps 8 inches of new snow. Found to have quite complex structure when exanined close up by the traditional method of face planting.
At the start the new snow seemed to have a firm base as initial wet snow froze. Higher up where grass poked through it appeared to have a similar structure. Deeper areas of sold white diifts were soft and caused sudden de-acceleration. This was the opposite way round from what my ski genes expected, and took some getting used to.

Norman's Law from the Kirk at Luthrie in North Fife. - Skinned out over snowy fields, over lower hills & arrived at Trig Pillar on Norman's Law (285m)

Cracking views over the region, and a fine afternoon trip after unexpected local snowfall. - These winters have given chance to hit a few local & low lying hills. Nice rolling countryside.

Good ski back using grassy slopes to give 3 nice easy runs linked to coast nicely back to car. Just a short carry over one wee hummock, otherwise skis on all the way home.
:: Weather Conditions
Blue sky, sunny, light breeze on top. Perfect afternoon for a short outing.
:: Snow Conditions and Distrubtion
Fresh & powdery new snow generally to road level. Skis on from car, across fields. Typically 4-6 inches with deep soft drifts along the way.

All white vista from top: Perthshire, Angus, Dundee, Fife.

Out the front door in Edinburgh to do three laps of the Meadows on nordic skis. Full moon with great views of the castle and Arthur's Seat until heavy snow shower blocked it out. Hardly back country but fresh, fluffy untracked snow everywhere.
:: Weather Conditions
-1 c. Still. Clear under full moon until heavy snow shower. Not as bitterly cold as earlier.
:: Snow Conditions and Distrubtion
Fresh powder on a firm base.
