:: Tour Route(s) or Location Skied/Ridden
Edinburgh Pentlands - East Cairn Hill and West Cairn Hill from Harperrig Reservoir.
Outbound directly up between the two summits and return to the West via Colzium.
Sorry photos uploaded in reverse order.
:: Weather Conditions
Blue sky and no wind whatsoever.
Minus 3 at the start at 277meters.
:: Snow Conditions and Distrubtion
Complete cover. Perhaps 8 inches of new snow. Found to have quite complex structure when exanined close up by the traditional method of face planting.
At the start the new snow seemed to have a firm base as initial wet snow froze. Higher up where grass poked through it appeared to have a similar structure. Deeper areas of sold white diifts were soft and caused sudden de-acceleration. This was the opposite way round from what my ski genes expected, and took some getting used to.
