Suie Hill and out onto Coreen Hills and back. 8-9km
:: Weather Conditions
Snow showers at first, clearing to lovely sunshine.
Freezing level below 100m
:: Snow Conditions and Distrubtion
2-3" of light powder snow on a hard base = great skiing conditions for fast travelling and carving turns.
Good test for our new backcountry skis
lots snow in forest, old snow more sparse on hillside, but enough to ski on

Ben Rinnes.
Started from carpark on Edinvillie back road @300m.
Kicker skins on for skin-up via the walkers path e.g. round hill, Roys Hill.
Changed to full skins @600m.
Continued to summit of Ben Rinnes @840m.
Skiied down West face to about 600m.
Kicker skins on and back to summit, then skied South-East side of the hill down towards Distillery and my favourite tree skiing spot amongst the pine trees of "Ben Rinnes Wood".
Then back up onto Roy's Hill and high speed back down ridge to car park.
:: Weather Conditions
Sunny spells, good clear views in all directions,
looked very nice on Ben Wyvis.
freezing level about 500-600m
:: Snow Conditions and Distrubtion
varied between 6" fresh snow wind-blown on hard base, wind-slab, and nice snow amongst the trees

Sturdy Hill, Glen Esk.
Ploughed roads from the back door to Mains of Balfour. Estate tracks to the forest edge. Bannock Hill. Unnamed 528m top. Sturdy Hill (NO593780_.
:: Weather Conditions
Blue skies. Cold northerly breeze.
:: Snow Conditions and Distrubtion
Nearly perfect. deeply drifted on estate tracks. Good cover of soft windlab on the open hill, with some hard packed areas. My nordic skis were only breaking through into the heather occassionally.

14km round trip from my back door without taking skis of once!
