24th Dec
-2 at car park. Low cloud, visibility reduced to 20m in places on the ascent.
:: Snow Conditions and Distrubtion
23rd Dec
A bit of everything! Deep soft snow, wind slab and gnarly heather man traps lurking under the soft snow esp below 480m.

24th Dec
7 inches of fresh overnight. Plenty of powder turns above 480m on the west side of the fence running North to South parallel to main ascent route. Scary heather man traps still lurk below 480m

Hillend Ski Centre. Classic off piste extremo routes such as the 'old elbow' and 'par 5 14th hole' are in conditon ;-)
:: Weather Conditions
Blue sky, -3c
:: Snow Conditions and Distrubtion
8-10cm on top of brushy dendex base.

Surprisingly decent - however barbed wire fences and tufts of grass to be avoided.

Afternoon outing before it all goes: Scottish Borders. Tala Linnfoots (290m) to Megget Stone then up Nickies Knowe (760m) and back.
:: Weather Conditions
Overcast but no snow or rain. Freezing level above summits, temperature around 2-3 dgC
:: Snow Conditions and Distrubtion
Soft / wet / water lower down but couple of good spring like pitches at first on descent. Walked 5 minutes up road from Tala Linnfoots then pretty much skis on all the way. Would be great with more snow - it's thawing fast here now.

Parked at Nine mile burn just off the A702 and skinned up Monks Rig. Decided to carry on to West Kip. Skins on all the way to the summit where the snow was several feet deep.

Fast descent back down West Kip before donning skins again to get back onto Monks Rig. Contoured round using the cornice and then some combat skiing/boarding to get off the hill.

A bit of walking/pushing/sliding saw us back at the car with skis and board intact.
:: Weather Conditions
Overcast but little wind. Probably hovering around freezing.
:: Snow Conditions and Distrubtion
Around 6" at the bottom to several feet at the top. Quite sticky in places and light in others.
