Meall a Bhuachaille from Glenmore. Along the forest path till the end of the trees then directly up to the summit. Return by the same route
:: Weather Conditions
High clouds
Quite sheltered until just below the summit then the wind kicked in fiercely so I retreated quickly to the shelter of the summit cairn to remove the skins.
Mild
:: Snow Conditions and Distrubtion
The hill had looked stunning from Cairngorm on Saturday so I had decided it was a must do today.

Unfortunately the temperature had risen overnight so the snow was very soft and heavy.
Nevertheless it was possible to put some good turns in on the face of the hill and straight run through the forest right to the water? tank just above the forest shop.

Not perfect conditions but a great low level tour that I didn't think was going to be possible this year.

Achlean, Glen Feshie over Carn Ban Mor on to Sgor Gaoith down the Allt a Chrom-alltain and back to Glen Feshie via Coire Arcain
:: Weather Conditions
Mixed sun and cloud, freezing level started at the car but by the afternoon was circa 800m
:: Snow Conditions and Distrubtion
Ski's on from the edge of the woods above Achlean with good cover more or less to the top of Carn Ban Mor. The Moine Mor has a full cover of windpacked powder with very few icy patches and despite the thawing conditions predicted for this week, the area will be good for touring for some time to come. A brilliant 600m of vertical from the summit of Sgor Gaoith down Allt a chrom alltain awaits anyone making the trip

3-Day Ski Touring, starting from Cas Carpark.
Day#1: Morning ski on lifts, lunch at Ptarmigan & skin off over Cairngorm summit, across plateau to Macdui, Sputan Dearg, Loch Etchachan, Hutchison Hut in Coire etchachan.

Day#2: Loch Etchachan, Derry Cairngorm & return to Hut overnight.

Day#3: From Hut up to Loch Etchachan, Sputan Dearg, Macdui, March Burn pools, Cairn Lochan, Lurchers Gully, peeling off to hike out path to Cas Carpark.
:: Weather Conditions
Friday 4th: Misty, then clear, the pea soup at Macdui & thereafter.
Saturday 5th: Brilliant blue sky, no wind, snow firm but manageable.
Sunday 6th: Cloud lifting, fair amount of blue sky but clouds passing over summits. Still solid surfaces, only where sun caught the slope did it slightly soften.
:: Snow Conditions and Distrubtion
Mostly hard snow all 3 days. - Some lower snow softened in sun particularly Saturday by Loch Etchachan.

Great continuous snow for the high level routes. Firm snow was good for skinning along, and OK for descents as long as edges were sharp. Locally a bit Bambi-on-Ice which was more entertaining than annoying, as the slopes had good run out if you did take a slip.

Run from Macdui to March Burn pools was particularly good. - Runs off Sputan Dearg & Derry Cairngorm were fine even when firm, and down Etchan gully line. - Slope at back of Loch was too icy to attempt, for me anyway. I think a few looked but didn't ski it.
