Cairngorm ski area to Blair Atholl (Sat 30th Mar - Mon 1st Apr)
Managed an approx 65km continuous tour starting at the ski centre carpark on Saturday. Up Lurchers to the top and then had our only carry of the trip as we descended too close to Lurchers Crag onto rocky terrain. Got back on route and continued down into the Lharig Ghru and up Braeriach. Passed tired skiers nearing the end of the 4000ers on their way down; the last skiers or walkers we would see on the hill for the next 2 days. Continued to the col below Angel's Peak and then down beautiful powder to the watershed linking to Monadh Mor. Camped at the watershed. Very cold!

Sunday, climbed first Monadh Mor and then Beinn Bhrotain. Great descent off Bhrotain, over the shoulder of Cnapan Mor and down towards the River Feshie. Found plenty of snowy routes between the heather down to the lowest point of the tour (536m). Next up Carn an Fhidlheir and An Sgarsoch with another excellent descent down the gully to the SW of the latter. Once again found plenty of lines to take us all the way to the Tarf Hotel (Bothy). Welcomed with a cup of tea by the Czech Walkers who were in residence.

Monday we climbed first Braigh Sron Ghorm and then Beinn Dearg. Continued on to Beinn a Chait which had sufficient snow in the shallow gully on its S face to take us down to the Allt Slanaidh. Skis of at the workers hut on the landrover track (altitude 470m)
:: Weather Conditions
Saturday - Blue skis; no wind
Sunday - patchy cloud; light winds
Monday - patchy cloud; light winds
:: Snow Conditions and Distrubtion
Mixed. Best descents were on gently angled west faces and gullies which had a few inches of soft crystalline powder on a firm base.

Sgor Gaoith

From the road following the path above Allt Ruadh then up the shoulder south of Allt a Chrom-alltain and on to the summit. From the summit traversed West South West below Carn Ban Mor in to Coire Ruadh. Skied the Allt Ruadh in to the trees until NN8777994 (not recommended stop at the edge of the trees)
:: Weather Conditions
Fine Broken high cloud with a light breeze.
:: Snow Conditions and Distrubtion
Variable from deep powder stash in the gullies to scoured and icy on exposed slopes.

Sgurr Gaoith via Allt Ruadh. Descent via the bowl and gully directly below the summit.
:: Weather Conditions
Sunny and cold.
:: Snow Conditions and Distrubtion
Mostly hard packed powder giving good skiing. Some hard sastrugi in places, icy on the plateau and on more exposed slopes.

Cover is highly variable: huge drifts in gully lines but thin or bare on some aspects up to 900m. Allt Ruadh is skiable to the stream junction with the Allt Coire na Cloiche at NH870005.

Invercauld to Beinn a Bhuird
:: Weather Conditions
Bluebird. Low air temps all day, but very warm in the sun. No wind.
:: Snow Conditions and Distrubtion
Excellent underfoot with complete cover on West slopes above 600m. Grippy spring snow higher up. Although snow in fields near the road, the track to Sluigan is only 50% complete.

Meall a Bhuachaille from Glenmore. Walked up the path till it became completely covered then skinned to the summit .
:: Weather Conditions
Sunny, quite calm lower down but at the summit the wind was fierce.
:: Snow Conditions and Distrubtion
Good skiing on wind packed powder and drifting powder on the upper part. Lower down it was on top of heather tufts but quite fast and not sinky
