The watershed of Glen Turret. Starting at the dam, walking to Allt Choinneachain burn where I picked up a sliver of snow, not 30 mins from car. Skin up Choinneachain Hill on good snow, descend on thin up and down to Auchnafree Hill. Heather skiing down and across Moine Bheag. Steep skin up Biorach a Mhearnain - slog up onto Ben Chonzie, then across plateau in this conditions to Carn Chois (note Allt nen Columan is good for holding snow). Descend to dam. General recommendation - snow would have been nice!
:: Weather Conditions
Glorious morning, but weather approaching from lunch time on. Huge halo round the sun for an hour or so.
:: Snow Conditions and Distrubtion
Snow accumulated in SW slopes and gullies, but NW slopes pretty bare (these were my main descents!).

From Turret Dam up Carn Chois and onto B Chonzie, return same way. Skis on at 600m and continuous snow from there. Some fresh on a hard base.
:: Weather Conditions
We love MWIS, but they got it wrong on Friday! Forecast for 70% cloud free, but was clag for most of the day.
:: Snow Conditions and Distrubtion
Good cover from 600m. Nice fresh on firm base - great!

Glen Turret, clockwise around reservoir, with a slight back track from Ben Chonzie to drop down to the Lochan, rise back up on east side on track, finally dropping down above carpark. 7.5hrs.
:: Weather Conditions
Excellent, sunny, all except for a snow shower and poor vis -when we accidentally got on a dodgy steep icy slope above the Lochan. Windy to start, calm at end.
:: Snow Conditions and Distrubtion
Good cover, a bit thin from carpark, ok up but 20mins walk on return. Mostly firm to very hard, with some nice patches.

Meall nan Tarmachan from Lochan na Lairige dam.
:: Weather Conditions
Benign compared to recent weeks! Sunny periods, some mist swirling around. Wind W 20/30 mph on top. Freezing level rose to about 600m then fell as the sun went down.
:: Snow Conditions and Distrubtion
Snow down to about 500m, fantastic cover above 600m. Some soft crust, some lovely wind-scoured and wind-packed snow.

A Bhuidheanach Bheag from Drumochter. The forecast was for more 60 to 80mph winds with freezing level rising to 600 or 700m and Cat 4 avalanche risk on NE to NW slopes. The first success was having easy access from the A9 without problems with the powerline installation. Others had found the Carn na Caim track inaccessible due to the works compound. The second success was the regional boundary markers were visible most of the way to around 900m. Pretty much everything is obscured by snow above 900m including the trig point. Examination of the GPS track afterwards showed we had done a line search over the top of the trig point without seeing it. A squall meant there was no visibility for a few hundred meters of the return across the plateau. We did enjoy the ski descent with complete cover to 650m and skiing to the road in wet snow at the bottom.
:: Weather Conditions
Nevis Range and Cairngorm were stormbound.
