Cold cloudy and calm. Snow showers and wind picked up late pm.
:: Climbing Conditions
he buttress looked in reasonable knick but the snow on the first six pitches was soft and unconsolidated. What turf there is was well frozen but the poor snow and slabby nature of the rock made the lower half of the route hard for the grade and time consuming. We transferred to solid neve in the top part of Zero which speeded us up but our rather late start meant that we topped out in a near white out at 10-40pm and decided to spend the rest of the night in the summit shelter.

An excellent route but probably considerably easier with good snow on its lower half. Unless you want an adventure probably best to only start up Observatory Ridge when Zero is in nick (which it certainly isn't at the moment) as this would indicate that you are more likely to find good conditions on the lower part of this route.
