Autumn Scotland style, what can you say?? CairnGorm has offered up five consecutive days, of fine cold crisp weather, keeping the superb October snow in great condition. Once again the Forecast is good for Thursday, if you haven't been up yet, drop everything and get up there while you can. It's only October, but conditions on the mountain are arguably better than much of last season, but the good weather won’t last, sadly a mild, wet and windy breakdown is on the cards for Friday. CairnGorm Mountain shuts after Sunday for annual maintenance on the funicular.

There is some quite awesome sport to be had, given that it's still October. Best sport for experts is on the M1, and M1 Side Track, both are full width and well pisted, machine packed dry snow, lovely! Plenty of scope for off-piste too, moderate off-piste below/above Traverse, and for the experts, the rarely skiable East Lady. Get up there!

On route to the 'Gorm. Sneachda and Lochan from the Glenmore Gates. Looks white, but climbing conditions needs a thaw/freeze cycle.

The Ptarmigan, with it's winter coat! Venison Casserole, highly recommended. (Rumour has it Ptarmigan Pie worth a try too...). Take a look around the Mountain Exhibition, a good way to let lunch go down.
