Report
:: Tour Route(s) or Location Skied/Ridden
Slochd about 17miles south of Inverness

Parked in the layby at the end of the dual carriageway travelling south before the Slochd. Skinned up the the summit of Carn Nam Bain-tighearna to the east of the road. by a more or less direct route
:: Weather Conditions
Calm low down. Moderate northerly wind on the summit. Sunny
:: Snow Conditions and Distrubtion
Powdery, dry, and totally unconsolidated. On average about a foot deep but there were 2 foot drifts. Skinning was difficult as you sank into the heather below. Skiing down was disappointing, again due to sinking despite using Bandits and leaning back. Even on the steepest parts you hardly moved. On the gentle areas poling was no use and it was a case of releasing the bindings and walking. Nevertheless it was a lovely late afternoon jaunt.
