Ballochbuie - Blackshiel Burn - Cnapan Nathraichean then descent burn line that leads past Prince's Stone then back through Ballochbuie to W gate.
:: Weather Conditions
Stormy. Cloud base c. 750m with strong to violent winds on summits. Crossing col was an experience in tenacity.
:: Snow Conditions and Distrubtion
Excellent snow above 600m, a bit softer below that. The descent of the NE trending burn line was well worth the effort. Skiable in woods from about 450m, a bit slushy below that and on tracks. Some challenging soft snow over heather and had buried pine wind-fall.

Sron na Gaoithe from A93/Sean Spittal.
:: Weather Conditions
Low cloud, SW wind. Freezing level around 500m, snow down to 300m. Ground starting to freeze up but still active burns and melt through at 750m. Some springs still active. Poor pics; sorry, camera batt empty so had to resort to phone.
:: Snow Conditions and Distrubtion
Wanted to nip out after this morning's storm and see what conditions are like. Good cover now on north facing slopes and you can ski back to road. Occasional view to Glas Maol; looks really loaded and brief glimpses of high tops (Ben Avon). Good to see the new snow...but we still need the mother of all snow storms to ensure good spring touring!

skinned from glenshee ski area car park to top of snnyside chair then a short 'hop' to snow at the top of cluny. continuous snow down and then up to meall odhar cafe. Up Meall Odhar by Caenlochan - still loaded. Another short hike at top of Meall Odhar. Down Fionn gully with some fresh snow lying on top of granular spring. There's still loads of snow here - glas maol up track looks complete as do both red and black runs. Coire Fionn up track broken. Skinned back up fionn gully and down caenlochan - great apart from v. strong headwind. Up Cluny and final ski right back to car park. Not bad for nearly May!
:: Weather Conditions
Very strong westerly spoiled things a little. Sunny spells and heavy hail then snow showers down to 700 metres. Cairnwell side is shot apart from high up. Meall Odhar, Fionn and glas maol still well worth a trip - should last a while yet.
:: Snow Conditions and Distrubtion
Soft fresh in patches on good spring snow. Wide cover still beyond Cluny/ Tom Dearg. Sorry no pics - forgot camera!
