Corryhabbie Hill
(Note that most of the pictures come from the previous days aborted attempt)

Took the walkers route up from Ellvried farm. Skins on from the beginning.

Farmer's tractor made for a nice track to begin with but it soon deteriorated due to snow melt and sheep s**t!

Skinned up to the summit overtaking 2 rather "annoyed" walkers who must have had some entertainment breaking trail.

Same route back down but tried to contour round some of the flat bits with no success resulting in much walking for me.

Two other parties out touring.
:: Weather Conditions
Overcast. Cloud just above the summit.

F/L probably above the summit.
:: Snow Conditions and Distrubtion
It had all the sliding properties of superglue. I think we manged 3 or 4 turns in total as we seemed to do the same speed no matter what gradient the slope was!

(Snow conditions confirmed by the other parties on the hill so it wasnt just us!)

Still loads of it though. Knee deep in places.

:: Weather Conditions
W wind, cloud level around 700m
otherwise good viz
:: Snow Conditions and Distrubtion
heavy below 500m
nicer firmer spring snow higher up made for good hero carving turns and speed.
tree skiing good fun,
others tracked the area yesterday

a wee stoater of a tour!

round trip of 3hrs15min, for 8km and 860m of vertical

should ski this hill more often as only 30mins drive from home

Udny Station - Newmachar Station and back along the Formartine and Buchan railway
:: Weather Conditions
+1.3C light drizzel
:: Snow Conditions and Distrubtion
Soft and sticky, the snow has consolidated since I was last out, and a lot of depth has been lost. Still complete with deep drifts in places. Some holes where the track is poorly drained but plenty of snow to either side to ski around and its thin under the bridges. Last nights sharp frost should have hardened it up and help it last, and the tracks I cut should make skiing easier. Nice evening ski though.

The Bin (forest near Huntly). Parked in the car park, skiied up the road - nice for skating. Turned left on the first main forest road, and headed uphill in 30-50cm of powder. From the barrier this was completely untracked. Was hard work in the deep snow, but fortunatley beeing a few of us we could take it in turns to break trail. Turned round at a view point givving good views over the suroundings in the moonlight. Fun and fast ski back in the nicely cut tracks
:: Weather Conditions
Dry, cold and mainly clear
:: Snow Conditions and Distrubtion
deep unconsolidated powder.

Clachnaben from Bridge of Dye.
:: Weather Conditions
Bluebird to start, becoming overcast. Freezing at sea level in Aberdeen.
:: Snow Conditions and Distrubtion
A sublime eight inches (or more) of powder below the treeline; ski grabbing, knee twisting windcrust above. Apparently good cover on all aspects.
